Lauren Guan, Pianist
Lauren Guan received her Bachelor of Music with Honors from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, UK. There, she studied with renowned pianists Ronan O’Hora and Caroline Palmer. Prior to her studies abroad, she trained at the University of Michigan with pianists Arthur Greene and Amy Cheng. During her studies in both the United States and the United Kingdom, she maintained an active performance schedule encompassing orchestral, chamber, and solo repertoire.
At Guildhall, she was selected to perform in the esteemed Keyboard at Six Concert Series at Milton Court Concert Hall, as well as the prestigious Beethoven Piano Prize. She was a Young Artist finalist in the Weatherford College International Piano Competition and 1st Prize Winner, MTNA Michigan State Competition (Solo Piano), and Alternate (2nd) in the East Central Regional Division. She has also competed in and received prizes in Emory University Young Artist, Marian Garcia International, and the Memphis International Piano Competition.
Lauren has also actively performed in international festivals on scholarship, including the Bowdoin International Piano Festival, Gijón International Piano Festival, Domaine Forget International Festival, Orford Musique, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, and Brevard Music Center. She has worked extensively in masterclass with many distinguished artists, such as Boris Berman, Jerome Lowenthal, Benedetto Lupo, Noriko Ogawa, John O’Conor, Daniel Shapiro, Soyeon Kate Lee, Logan Skelton, and Alexander Kobrin.
